Yesterday CoMech exhibited at the RSN event here in our home city of Derby, in fact it was just a 3 minute and 41 second walk from our HQ office over to the event venue.
This highly popular event in the rail industry’s calendar is one we’ve attended for a few years running now because we like to say hello to the people we already know and those we don’t.
The word on the exhibition floor was that over 2,000 people registered for today with many of them turning up to see what’s happening in the sector and talk to suppliers like ourselves.
There was such a great range of businesses showcasing their offering for the sector from Axminister carpets (their stand was great!), to lots of coupling providers, through to businesses able to help with reducing carbon footprint and even the train toilet provider!
CoMech were delighted to talk to many of our customers including local TOC EMR who are big users of the MiniProf system for measuring wheels and others who use our calibration services. It’s always great to hear about the successes of people using this measuring tool for both track and wheels; and often people who use it come with great stories (like wriggling under trains to fit a wheel system in place). Having the kit on the stand always makes for a good visual demonstration for people to see how easy it is to get started with any of the MiniProf systems. The feedback we always get is how important it is that they can get the calibration, system updates and repair completed here in the UK by CoMech who are very experienced. One person stopped by to tell us about their MiniProf which was purchased 22 years ago; we of course offered a calibration to them to ensure it’s still as good as new operationally. Another mentioned how much he loves the engineering simplicity of the tool as it just gets the job done so effectively.
Of course, there were many visitors to the stand who wanted to know more about measurement matters, metrology, calibration and the MiniProf system we had out on display. Calibration is a critical activity within the rail industry and it’s one that CoMech have been undertaking since 1985 so it’s safe to say we are very experienced and can provide turnkey solutions in calibration so any equipment and tooling can be handled by us.
Everyone was welcome to our stand, many walked away with a bit of branded merch from travel mugs to pens (HS2 popped over to nab a few pens!) and lots of people had a sweet (before Russell managed to give away an entire mug filled with sweets – it’s the way CoMech rolls).
Matt, Seleena, Russell and Laura all enjoyed the vibe in the exhibition hall; it was busy, there was lots of conversation and some phenomenal exhibition stands. But as always it’s the conversations that make the biggest difference both on the day and then as we move forward to build the relationships.
You can see the RSN’s own video of the day here.
Another great event, our next one is in another industry and not quite as close!
