Compiling Your Asset List

Often when CoMech visit customers the first thing we’ll ask is “can we see your asset list please?”. Now often we can hear that inward groan the person in front of us makes and we get it. Asset management in any sized business can be tricky to have up to date and complete. In this blog we examine how CoMech can help and how you can price up your calibration requirements if your asset list is a little out of date.

Asset management

In another blog you can see what is required to be on an asset list; read that in full here What is an Asset List? – CoMech Metrology.

Essentially what CoMech are looking for is a list much like the one you’ve compiled for something like your PAT testing of electrical items. Information on:

  • Equipment type
  • Asset number
  • Serial number
  • Asset location
  • Date of last test

Asset management really could be considered crucial as it ensures the systematic tracking, maintenance, and optimisation of assets.  Getting it right can lead to increased operational efficiency and cost savings (especially for all those tools that go ‘walkabouts’!). Effective asset management allows you to maintain a comprehensive inventory of assets, facilitating timely calibrations and maintenance, which are vital for sustaining operational accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Outdated asset lists

CoMech truly understands that many businesses simply struggle to keep on top of asset management for various reasons from a constant influx and exit of tools, staff not tracking new items or recording when assets have been retired. Mostly it’s because people are doing the day job and the asset list is not a top priority. That is, until someone comes in and asks you for it!

If your asset list is totally out of date then CoMech can help you with a visual inspection of the items at your sites to compile into an asset list. This will be compiled into a spreadsheet so that if you choose to use CoMech for your calibration we can easily import the data into our bespoke asset management system. TrackRecordPro is an easy to use piece of software that clients value enormously both for calibration reasons but also to keep their asset lists up to date easily.

This is a chargeable service; please contact the team to ask for a quotation for our engineering team to come onto your site to compile your asset list. Please email marketing@comech.co.uk

Getting a price

Asset lists are essential for providing a price for your annual calibration contract; however if you have multiple lists or only have a few items missing our team can still provide you with an initial price.

Our team are happy to support you building your calibration contract as and when you compile your asset list and with TrackRecordPro in place we know you’ll quickly get up to date with your asset list.

Again please just email marketing@comech.co.uk if you’d like a price for your asset calibration.

Implementing robust asset management systems simplifies tracking the calibration schedules of critical equipment, ensuring that all assets perform optimally and reducing the risk of unexpected downtime. This proactive approach enhances productivity, extends asset lifespan, and helps businesses adhere to regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to a more reliable and efficient operational framework.

As you can see CoMech are BIG fans of asset lists!
