Here at CoMech we like to celebrate our colleagues on a regular basis; whether that is voting for our employee of the month or marking a notable work anniversary.
Employee of the month
Every month every team member gets the opportunity to vote for the person whose made an impact during the month; it could be on a particular task, or how the person operates daily, or anything really that’s worth sharing and say thanks for!
Long service awards
This month we celebrated Mikhail Roberts’ 10 year anniversary here at CoMech; he is our software developer. Mik lives and breathes our TrackRecordPro system and is currently working on the upgrade to the software that will provide users with an even better system to use for their asset management.
Mik is the owner of the hairless pooch that you might have seen shared on our social media who is a regular visitor to the office. But there’s more to Mik than software and his lovely little dog; so here’s our interview in full.
Mik, what’s your favourite CoMech memory from the last 10 years?
I think it was soon after I completed one of my early projects and I realised, I’d made a real positive contribution. Before that I was still a bit green and unsure of myself
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The variety: I never know what new challenge I will be facing on a day-to-day basis, and it keeps me on my toes!
What’s currently occupying your working days?
Currently we’re working on a new version of our bespoke infrastructure / asset management software, and whatever else might crop up in the meantime.
How do you manage when you have a challenge / problem?
My brother once told me that “In order to fix a problem, you must understand what the problem is” and those words guide my approach. I look at the problem, find out what has happened, compare it to what should have happened, determine how that problem has come about. By that point I’ll have a good idea about what needs fixing and how to fix it.
What’s your favourite part of TrackRecordPro?
I like its overall clear, clean and functional aesthetic particularly in places like the login screen, but I maybe being a bit biased there. It has some very useful features that I can’t take credit for such as the ability to create delivery notes and import a spreadsheet of assets, but if I had to pick, it would be the aesthetics.
What car do you drive?
A Kia Picanto. It’s not fancy, but it gets me around.
What are your hobbies outside of work (and computer things!)?
I have a one-year-old son and a neurotic little dog.
Zeke, who heads up all things IT here at CoMech, says “Mik is a fab colleague, his great sense of humour, calm approach to everything and his knowledge of our systems is impressive. When we’re working on system updates Mik always has contributions that are going to make a difference to the outcome. I enjoy working with Mik and look forward to the next 10 years of doing what our team does best!”
Congratulations on your 10 years Mik and indeed here’s to another 10 years of amazing stuff.
